As many of you will know, the Brighton Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group are involved in a joint solidarity project to build a much needeschool for the Palestinian village of Fasayil in the Jordan Valley Construction begun in the summer of 2007 in defiance of Israel’s complete ban on house building in the area and the school is a physical manifestation of the Palestinian people’s peaceful resistance to the occupation. On the 17th of October, Israel’s ‘Military Civil Administration’ issued an injunction against the continued building of the school and unless the village apply for a permit by the 29th of December the school can be demolished. However, house permits are never issued in Fasayil as the land is designated as ‘agricultural’ by the Israeli  authorities. (more…)

This Valentines Day show them you care!

The campaign against Carmel Agrexco, Israel’s largest exporter of stolen fruit, vegetables and flowers from the West bank of Occupied Palestine will step up a gear in the days leading up to Valentines day, 14 February 2008. This is the busiest time of year for this company. Previous actions have included blockades, occupations and
demonstrations.

Since July the people of Fasayil, supported the Brighton-Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group and the Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign, have been building a school in an act of defiance against Israeli military restrictions on building. (more…)

We telephoned Fasayil last night.

One member of the village committee said that the shell of the school, which they have been bulding with the help of the Brighton-Tubas Friendship and Solidarity group, is finished but it still need a floor, doors and windows.

He also told us that the army entered Fasayil on Friday night. He said there was no other reason for this than harrasment.

A ten person delegation, organised by the Brighton - Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group arrived in Palestine this week. Watch this space for their reports.

On the Thursday, the 17th of October the Israeli Occupation Forces issued a demolition order for Fasayil’s primary school and yet another Palestinian family’s home in the village. Construction work requires a permit from the Occupation authorities but since the occupation of the West Bank in 1967 not one has been granted. The systematic ban on destruction is clearly aiming at driving out Palestinians of the Jordan Valley.
