Call for Action Against House Demolitions in Al Farisiya and Fasayil

On 19th July 2010 the Israeli army demolished 26 homes in Al Farisiya in the Jordan Valley making 107 more Palestinians homeless. They also destroyed the shelters for over 1000 sheep that members of this bedouin community owned, and have 'confiscated' the sheep and demanded payment from the farmers for their food!

The work of the Jordan Valley Solidarity Group

Today we met with a few activists from the Jordan Valley Solidarity project based in Tubas. The group works in conjunction with international solidarity groups such as the Brighton Tubas Friendship and solidarity group as well as with multinational development agencies. It works with displaced and threatened communities within the Jordan valley that are being harassed by the Israeli Occupation Force. They outlined to us the work they have been doing since we last met with them.

32 families threatened with eviction and house demolitions

The very existence of the Palestinian communities in Al Hadidiya and Khirbet Ar Ras Al Ahmar has been threatened once again by the Israeli occupation authority. On 31st May 09 thirty two families were threatened with eviction or the demolition of their homes. The following details have been published by the United Nations.

Interviews with the people of Al Hadidya

The Bedouin village of Al Hadidya was attacked by Israeli forces on the morning of the 6th of February. Over 40 soldiers came in jeeps and two Volvo bulldozers, and destroyed the houses and properties of six families. The village has been attacked many times in the past.

Saturday 26th of January we joined a peace convoy to Gaza hoping to bring food and other supplies to the strip. The event had been planned over a week ago, when the Israeli government announced that it would suspend almost all supplies to Gaza.

The wells are protected by high electric fences, and are off limits to the Palestinians – only settlers are allowed water from these wells. Palestinians must drive 35km to access water.
