Tubas student denied entry to UK

Emad, a student from Al Quds Open University in Tubas, had been invited to the University of Sussex to meet with students and speak about conditions for students living under occupation in the West Bank.

However, the UK consulate refused his visa application on the grounds that he is an ex-prisoner.

Brighton Tubas video link

On Monday we did our first video link between Brighton and Tubas, Palestine. It was fantastic to speak directly to a room full of women from Tubas, and see all our friends from Brighton sitting there with them. However, it was appalling to hear how much the situation has deteriorated in Tubas since I was there a year ago.

Going to the university...

Today all of us went to Al-Quds Open University in Tubas for the first time. We're going back tomorrow for a less formal visit, but today was a sort of official reception for the Brighton/Sussex delegates. We were all pretty amazed by the welcome we received!!
