International Call for Action against Agrexco

The Boycott Israeli Goods Campaign (www.bigcampaign.org) is issuing an international call to action against Carmel-Agrexco next February. Carmel-Agrexco is the Israeli national exporter of fruit and vegetables and imports large quantities of goods from illegal Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

Twinning group needed for vulnerable village in the West Bank

The Brighton Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group are looking to find a committed group of people seeking a village to twin with in Palestine. The 5000 people of Al Mazra’a al Qibliyah –located not far from Bir Zeit in the West Bank- are experiencing increasing violence from the surrounding settlement Talmon B and are therefore in need of a strong campaigning support network.

Schools

The aims of this project are firstly to link schools in the Brighton and
Hove area with schools in Tubas and the Jordan valley. The links are at
the level of friendship between the children and teachers.

Secondly the project is part of a wider effort to publicize the
humanitarian issues facing Palestinian Communities within the Jordan
Valley.

Friendship links depend largely on those traveling between Brighton and
Tubas. Letters in English and Arabic, drawings, pictures and films are all
taken by individuals or posted back from Jerusalem. We have one post box

Trade Unions

The Brighton-Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group aims to make links between Trade Union branches in Brighton and the Tubas region.

Threatened Communities

The Jordan Valley is an area under urgent threat of annexation by Israel. Because of its fertile land and geographical location, it is already 95% under Israeli Military control and heavily exploited by the 36 illegal settlements based there. Militarised zones ensure that the Jordan Valley’s Palestinian population is more or less isolated from the rest of the West Bank.
