House Demolitions Planned in Al Hadidiya

Military authorities have ordered the demolition of bedouin houses in the Al Hadidiya area close to the illegal settlement of Ro'i, near the Al Hamra checkpoint, in the Tubas Region. Families have lost their case against the demolitions in the Israeli Supreme Court and the 131 residents have been told to move by 21st April.

Brighton delegation returns from Palestine

Embargo Monday 16th April 2007Seventeen people from Brighton and Hove spent the last two weeks in Palestine on a delegation organised by the Brighton Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group. The group was established in April 2006 to foster grassroots links between Brighton and Tubas region in Palestine.

On Monday we did our first video link between Brighton and Tubas, Palestine. It was fantastic to speak directly to a room full of women from Tubas, and see all our friends from Brighton sitting there with them. However, it was appalling to hear how much the situation has deteriorated in Tubas since I was there a year ago.

Farmers in Tubas and the Jordan Valley

As our delegation is coming to an end, I was asked to write something about the two farmers' cooperatives that we have visited in the Tubas region. My mission of finding out more about the agricultural situation in Palestine has largely failed because of a lack of time, but hopefully I can do more research in the future.

Um Salmona Demonstration on Friday 13th - a stroke of luck

Friday 13th at Um Salmona was all in all a very encouraging day. The new 'Bil'in demonstration’ started at eleven o'clock with approximately 100 protestors, predominantly Palestinian.
